Japan’s classic album Quiet Life metaphorically and literally ended the 70s and kick-started the 80s due to being released in the run-up to Christmas the album was released in certain countries in 1979 and others in 1980.
Quiet Life was the third, final and most successful release for the band on the Hansa Records label. The album and its attendant singles; Quiet Life & All Tomorrow’s Parties as well as other non-album singles included on the new deluxe version; Life In Tokyo, European Son & I Second That Emotion acted as a forerunner for the alternative, new wave & new romantic sound of the early 80s.
Quiet Life is now the subject of a major new reissue featuring a brand new half-speed remaster of the original album, alternate mixes, b-sides, singles, rarities and live material including an audience recording of the sought after ‘lost’ Live at Budokan show from March 1980 previously only available as the 4 track EP ‘Live in Japan’.
The release features newly restored original album artwork, exclusive new liner notes with a foreword by original producer, John Punter, rare and unseen photography and memorabilia.

It’s not the proper Japanese 7” but never mind, it’s therefore a previously unreleased version. The proper Japanese single version has different edits, but is the same length. The band made a few different edits of the song before release, likely the wrong tape was used for this box set.

@@erwinklement1215 In der DDR kam Live in Japan seltsamerweise im Disco-Mitschnittservice. Das hat mich damals umgehauen. Da dachte ich mir, die können also nicht so falsch liegen, dieser Song ist etwas Besonderes.Zudem hat mich das Image der Band fasziniert. Das war etwas völlig Neues, was es vorher noch nicht gab.Sonst hör ich gerne Smokie, Sweet, Slade, also Glamrock.
@@matzevalentin mit Sweet fing meine musikalische Reise an höre ich heute noch manchmal, Slade da finde ich Far Far Away super Song. Da bist aus der ex DDR? Hast du Cds von Japan? Spannend sind auch die Solo Projekte aller ex Japan Mitglieder, kennst du die Werke auch? Die haben sich ja alle musikalisch weiterentwickelt speziell Sylvian! Wo kommst du denn her?

Steve, Richard, and Rob are supporting the re-release. I really resent this notion that the only people who should get to listen to Japan are a select group of baby boomers who are from England and Japan. I was 4 years old when this album was released and I live in the US. I’m so glad that they re-released it.
